news2013ourtownSSCC Theatre proudly presents Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, opening tonight at 7:30 p.m. The show continues this weekend on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3:30 p.m. This season marks Rainee Angles’ tenth season as SSCC Theatre director.

This timeless drama of life in the mythical village of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, has become an American classic with universal appeal. Thornton Wilder’s most frequently performed play, Our Town appeared on Broadway in 1938 to wide acclaim, and won the Pulitzer Prize. Our Town explores the relationship between two young Grover’s Corners neighbors, George Gibbs (played by Owen Stanton) and Emily Webb (Madison Hatfield), whose childhood friendship blossoms into romance, and then culminates in marriage. Narrating throughout, the Stage Manager (Benjamin Gullett) shows the audience the circle of life portrayed in each of the three acts: growing up, adulthood, and death. Our Town is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
