newsives2010On June 13 at 7:30pm, SSCC Theatre will present, An Evening with David Ives. An Evening with David Ives will contain three of Mr. Ives funniest one act plays. These plays include: Sure Thing, in which two people (Benjamin Gullett & Honey Smith) meet in a cafe and find their way through a conversational minefield as a bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes, and faux pas on the way to falling in love. In Words, Words, Words, the philosophical adage that three monkeys (Toby Jones, Courtney Beekman & Amy Petzold) typing into infinity will sooner or later produce Hamlet is tested, and asks: What would monkeys talk about at their typewriters? And finally, in The Universal Language, Dawn (Alex Horsley), a young woman with a stutter meets Don (Lou Pfaehler), the creator and teacher of Unamunda, a wild comic language. Their lesson sends them off into a dazzling display of hysterical verbal pyrotechnics-and, of course, true love. Both, Sure Thing and The Universal Language, also feature Vanessa Gard.

An Evening with David Ives is being co-directed by Rainee Angles and Benjamin Gullett with stage managing by Christina Cadwallader. Vanessa Gard is in charge of costumes and make-up, Emmy Lakes and Gayle Cabello will be designing lights and sound, and Daniel Bragdon will be in charge of set and props.
