newssquigglly2010An exciting change of events is happening right now at SSCC. Originally due to play at the Aronoff Center for the Arts’; Fifth Third Bank Theater this March 19 – 30, Benjamin Gullett’s Squiggllydickler has been rescheduled to play locally here in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium at Southern State Community College in Hillsboro from April 10 – 12 at 7:30 p.m. each evening.

The biggest reason for this change was due to the patrons we were playing for. “The majority of our ticket sales were coming from right here at home”; said Benjamin Gullett, playwright and director of Squiggllydickler. “Why make everyone venture almost two hours out of their way when we can stay right here in Hillsboro and give people an evening they won’t soon forget? Our main goal with this show is to raise money for my brother Zachary’s memorial scholarship. All of the proceeds from Squiggllydickler go straight to his trust and we want to make sure that we’re planning a quality production that will help to do just that.”

Squiggllydickler had its original premiere at SSCC in August of 2006. In the course of almost two years a lot has changed. “What audiences can expect to see this April is vastly different from what they may have seen in 2006. In the course of writing a play there can almost always be improvements made, and Squiggllydickler was no exception. Some of the funnier moments of the original still exist in this version one way or another, but I’ve really been able to refine the storyline and tighten up a lot of the scenes. This version is certainly not your two-years ago younger-self Squiggllydickler. “Old audiences will be surprised as much as new audiences, if not more,” said Gullett. “No one can really say they’ve seen Squiggllydickler until they’ve seen, what I consider to be the final, superior, version.”

Tickets for Squiggllydickler are on sale now for $10, with all proceeds going to the PFC Zachary R. Gullett Memorial Scholarship Trust. You can reserve your tickets by clicking here. For more information about the PFC Zachary R. Gullett Memorial Scholarship please click here.
