SSCC Theatre is pleased to announce their upcoming auditions for the summer production of the classic musical, “Annie.”
Annie is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and finds a new family and home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Auditions, open to community members and students, will be held for adults on Friday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m., and for children on Saturday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. in The Edward K. Daniels Auditorium at the Central Campus of Southern State Community College, in Hillsboro, OH. Adults interested in auditioning should prepare a one to two minute monologue (preferably comedic) that is similar to the character you’re auditioning for. Adults should also prepare one or two songs from “Annie,” and be prepared to sing acapella. Children auditioning should prepare one of two monologues that can be found here (Alice from Alice in Wonderland for girls, Huck from The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn for boys). Children, too, should prepare one or two songs from “Annie,” to be sung acapella.
“Annie” is directed by Rainee Angles, with musical direction by David White, and will be performed August 3 – 5, 2012. For more information about “Annie,” the rehearsal schedule, and other audition info, please visit www.sscctheatre.com.
