SSCC Theatre is pleased to announce their upcoming auditions for the summer production of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Macbeth, a brave Scottish general, receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders the king and takes the throne for himself. His reign is racked with guilt and paranoia, and he soon becomes a tyrannical ruler as he is forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself from enmity and suspicion. The bloodbath swiftly takes Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into realms of arrogance, madness, and death.
Auditions, open to community members and students, will be held on Friday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 19 at 10:00 a.m. in The Edward K. Daniels Auditorium at the Central Campus of Southern State Community College, in Hillsboro, OH. Those interested in auditioning should prepare and memorize a one to two-minute classical monologue. It does not have to be Shakespeare, nor from Macbeth. If you’re interested in auditioning, but unavailable to attend the audition date, please contact Rainee Angles to schedule an alternate audition date prior to April 18.
Macbeth, directed by Rainee Angles, will be performed July 25 – 27, 2014, and is the final show of our 10th anniversary celebration. For more information about “Macbeth,” available roles, and a rehearsal schedule, please visit our audition page, here.
