SSCC Theatre is pleased to announce their upcoming auditions for the spring production of Tracy Letts’ August: Osage County.
A vanished father. A pill-popping mother. Three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you’ve got a major new play that unflinchingly—and uproariously—exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family. August: Osage County was the winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Play, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Auditions, open to community members and students, will be held on Friday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 203 at the Central Campus of Southern State Community College, in Hillsboro, OH. Those interested in auditioning should prepare and memorize a dramatic, one to two-minute monologue. Those interested on working in available crew positions will be asked to complete an interview the night of auditions. If you’re interested in auditioning, but unavailable to attend the audition date, please contact Rainee Angles to schedule an alternate audition date prior to December 5.
August: Osage County, directed by Rainee Angles, will be performed March 27 – 29. For more information about August: Osage County, available roles, and a rehearsal schedule, please visit our audition page here.
