SSCC Theatre is proud to announce their upcoming production of Lanie Robertson’s The Insanity of Mary Girard for December 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m. and again on December 7 at 3:30 p.m.
Mary Girard (portrayed by Rainee Angles) has been committed to an asylum. Having become pregnant by another man, her husband and wealthy businessman Stephen Girard (Benjamin Gullett), has her declared legally insane. As Mary endures the sinister “tranquilizing chair,” the maniacal Furies (Jason Sharrett, Ayla Stirnaman, Jamie McCoy, Josh Keidel and Joey Haas) dance around and summon people from her past including her husband and her mother (Bronwyn Jones-Van Frank). Through all of this, Mary struggles to prove to everyone that she is not insane … but reality slowly slips away from her and by the end of this haunting and highly theatrical piece, she may very well actually be insane. The cast also includes: Mallory Malloy, Amy Petzold, Caleb Sellman and A.J. Yourkvitch.
The Insanity of Mary Girard is directed by Bob Brown and stage managed by Sarah Williams, with other crew positions fulfilled by: Brent Angles, Hannah Braden, Hanorah Campbell, Amanda Castro, Katie Cavendish, Kim Ellen Garvie, Matt Garvie, Elizabeth Habermehl and Amanda Ray. Performances of The Insanity of Mary Girard are located in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium at the Central Campus of Southern State Community College in Hillsboro, OH. Tickets are available online and at the door for $7 for general admission and $5 for students and faculty, with ID. The Insanity of Mary Girard is not child friendly.
