“I want your fear. For your fear, like a current, rushes through your body. Your fear makes your heart pound, it renders your veins rich and full. Your fear hemorrhages deliciously within you,” so the Count explains to one of his earliest victims in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, adapted by Steven Dietz, playing in The Edward K. Daniels Auditorium at Southern State Community College, Hillsboro, Ohio, November 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. and on November 21 at 3:30 p.m.

This new adaptation of Dracula restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker’s classic novel to the stage. Lucy (played by Talya Starkey) is trying to choose amongst three suitors, and Mina’s (Casey Baker) affections for her fiancé are deep. Life seems to be lovely, sweet, and long for the two of them. But things quickly fall apart when Lucy is taken strangely ill. Little is it known to either of them that a vampire has begun to take claim of Lucy’s body and soul. As Count Dracula (Benjamin Gullett) begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances, in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humor and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker’s famous vampire.

Dracula also features the talents of: Kia Armstrong, Blayne Dalton, Kim Garvie, Joey Haas, John Hancock, Mark Holmes, Jeff Horick, Jamie McCoy, Deven Rine, Calin Rushing, and A.J. Yourkvitch.

Dracula is directed by Rainee Angles and stage managed by Kat Castle and Amanda Ray.
