SSCC Theatre proudly presents the family comedy, Over the Tavern, opening tonight at 7:30pm. The show continues this weekend on Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 3:30pm.
In that most idealized period of 20th-century America, the Eisenhower years of the 1950s, the Pazinski family has a lot going on in their cramped Buffalo apartment. The youngest of the bunch, 12-year-old Rudy (played by Matthew Waits), is a smart, wise-cracking kid who’s starting to question family values and the Roman Catholic Church. When Rudy goes up against the ruler-wielding Sister Clarissa (Hannah Hengler) and announces that instead of being confirmed he’d rather shop around for a more “fun” religion, all hell breaks loose. A warm and hilarious look at family, growing up, and God.
Over the Tavern also features the talents of: Stormi Bledsoe, Jarrett Fittro, Bryan Kessinger, Tori Kocher, and Masen Woodall.
Over the Tavern is directed by Rainee Angles, stage managed by Kat Castle and Micaela Countryman, with production design by Rainee Angles and Abraham Martin, sound design by Benjamin Gullett, and costume design by Laura Martin. Fulfilling other crew positions are: Brent Angles, Kelly Devine, Leslie Holmes, Emily Kessinger, Tina Kessinger, Seth Potts, and Heather Washburn.
